photo viewers for windows 7

With Windows 98, I could save and open pictures in IE. Why can’t I do the same in Windows XP?
When I had Windows 98, any time I downloaded a picture from the internet, I could open it with Internet Explorer. Ever since I got Windows XP, the default program for photos is Windows Fax Viewer, which only lets you view and edit photos within the program, but not let you view them in IE. I thought it might be because of the version of Internet Explorer I was using (IE 6). But I tried with IE 4, 5.5 and 7, and the same thing happened. Why can’t I view local files with IE in XP and what, if anything can I do to get around this?
windows xp has advance features than the older version. it has an ‘open with’ option where you can view the files with your chosen program.
grasshopper’s right, all you have to do is to right click your file>> choose open with >> and click internet explorer.
or to make ie your default setting, right click the file>>choose properties and then click the change button(on the right of the ‘opens with’ label) and choose ie.
